Hello everyone -- I'm Marcus Elmore, the project editor for Resources for College Libraries, the new core collection for academic libraries developed by the ACRL (in partnership with R. R. Bowker) as a successor to Books for College Libraries, 3rd edition (BCL3). I work at the offices of Choice in Middletown, Connecticut. I am also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Information and Library Science at Southern Connecticut State University. I'm officially agnostic about Library 2.0 (the concept, not this virtual social space), but am thoroughly willing to be swayed in my opinion. I've been wasting time at work (shh! don't tell Irv Rockwood, the publisher of Choice) investigating Second Life.

My name is Bill Drew. I am the systems librarian at Morrisville State College Libraries which is part of the Sate University of New York. I have been there for my entire professional library career of 22 years. I got my MS in Library Science from Dexel University in 1986. While there I worked at PALINET and as a grad assistant at U. of P. Social work library. I also worked as a clerk at the Cornell University Libraries before going back to get my masters.

I have responsibility for anything related to computers or electronic information in our library. Read my profile for more.

Thanks Bill for this collaborative forum!

I am Brian Gray. I have several hats I wear currently, such as Engineering, Mathematics, and Statistics Librarian at Case Western Reserve University and Adjunct Instructor for Bryant & Stratton College. I am currently preparing a workshop for the Kent State School of Library & Information Science called using Web 2.0 to Become Librarian 2.0. I am very exited for this opportunity and it should be fun. I am also the current web coordinator for ALA LAMA, and have been challenged to shake up how things are done.

Hi, I'm Michelle from Melbourne, Australia. I work part-time in a public library service as Information Librarian, with my main interest (and passion) being all things Library 2.0 and getting them into my library service as approrpriate.

Hi. My name is Memo Cordova, reference/instruction librarian at Albertsons Library, Boise State University. I like what I'm seeing in Ning, Bill, and what you have done to create a space--or focal point--for everything L 2.0. The possibilities are enticing

My name is Beth Nicol. I've been in this library world for over 22 years now -- the first library system I dealt with was NOTIS with the only documentation being for a different OS. I've been blessed with a creative mindset all of my life, so integrating library services with other applications has always been interesting to me.

Currently I work primarily with Digital Library management -- I've worked with Greenstone, CONTENTdm, Z39.50 servers, ENCompass, Voyager... and Mediawiki, WordPress, MovableType, PHPNuke and Drupal... however, SecondLife leaves me cold. Oh well.

Anyway - I still have trouble with "what is Library 2.0, anyway" - but I'm here to see what others think and do.

But on Second Life you can FLY! Well, except with my graphics card :-( ....I am working up a Drupal intranet server right now, and I love those Organic Groups!

I'm Melissa Ducote Shepherd, and have an M.L.S.--spent a year in the M.F.A. program for Book Arts in Tuscaloosa Alabama after getting my B.S in Graphic Arts and Advertising. I have 3 brothers in "the business", and so IT/MS/Linux, etc. was not a big stretch when the library I was working for doing website & reference needed to segment IT functions, and someone to wrangle IT without many resources.
But I have had less time to do what is needed with few staff and not enough funds to keep staffers who can make a difference. We are always playing "catch-up" and rarely make "keep-up". With SirsiDynix right next door, the options for an M.L.S. grad are much expanded in this town. I have seen Bill's posts for many years and am always interested in what he has to share and I am speculating that the large # of signups to this site are proof of Bill's reputation for pushing ahead in a positive fashion where others fear to tread.

Hello 2.0'ers! I'm Claire Houghton-Kiel, the Executive Director of PALS Plus, a public library consortium in northern NJ. We are experimenting with all things 2.0 these days, looking at how we can make our web presence more useful to both our customers (who are the staff members of the public libraries) and to their customers (the general public). I'm newly inspired by blogs/wikis/social networks, etc. I've been at the consortium (which is currently a Sirsi Unicorn site, formerly a DRA Classic site) for 14 years. I've joked that I'm on my second "7 year itch", and needed a new distraction. We've created our own Ning community, and I'm happy to be a part of this one as well.

Hi,

I'm Jack Berkowitz, and I run product development for a software company, Siderean, that works in relational navigation and findability for digital assets, as well as social networking. We have a few library clients, including http://www.lii.org, and I am interested in learning more about what is interesting to the library 2.0 community, and might have a contribution or two gleaned from other domains with similar interests.

There is a typo in the above text. The Lib2.07 Forum website should be http://you.xmulib.org.
