I use it mostly to post (or re-post... or re-tweet...) interesting links in sci-tech or higher education. Although I do occasionally post about library-specific stuff, like if the printers are down or we're having an event.

I love what you've done there at Bibliotheek 2.0 including using Twitter search to create an aggregated Atom feed of relevant tweets and parsing them there for your readers.

Thank you Ray! Most of the members don't follow Twitter. Now they have a chance to read tweets without having to register or search indeed....

Oh yeah, and I should mention that we aggregate our twitter feed to our blog and our facebook page, because I do realize that a lot of people don't use twitter. I noticed that one of the email newsletters I get also includes their twitter feed in there, so that's also a good idea...

I've been using Twitter personally for 2 years, but now also carry on a dialog with our public through the library's Twitter: http://twitter.com/PierceCoLibrary (WA). Just last night we reached our 100th follower!

Are you the only staffer using Twitter or do all the Professional librarians using it?

There are a dozen or more staff using Twitter personally. So far I'm the only one posting to the library's site. That will change as others see the potential. At the moment, I've been going running with a general plan while tossing ideas and questions to different people. Their responses are being incorporated into the feed.
