Hi Jennifer,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

James, thanks for the suggestions. However, right now, XHTML is the only actual Web skill I have, besides Dreamweaver. And I just somehow have this writing block in saying "Oh, I'm familiar with most Web 2.0 tools, like networking sites, blogging, Twitter, MMORGs, IMing, and co-browsing."

But the entire thing is due for a makeover, frankly-- it needs to be made XHTML Transitional compliant, among other things. I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind.

Nice online vita. You might want to mention your interest in and familiarity with Web 2.0 stuff. I think a lot of libraries are just starting to utilize this technology for their patrons. The old-time librarians like myself are just starting to learn about it. Our recent job announcement specifically asked for these kinds of skills. Any other web-related skills you have should be included. You mentioned XHTML, CSS.

On March 20th, I'll be Columbia, Missouri at the Millennial Dilemma: Divergence and Convergence in Meeting the Needs of Higher Education Conference. It doesn't look to be very big, so if you're going too, go ahead and email me, or respond here, so I can look forward to annoying meeting up with you.

There. Just revised and updated my online vita (i.e., my "Webpage"). Of course, please email me if you have comments; just be sure to put [ning] in the subject line, or something like it, so I don't think you're sending me spam.

What is Your Interest in Library 2.0 (not yes or no)
I love networking sites-- they're a great way to learn new things, meet interesting people, and generally share the enthusiasm and goodwill we all have for a common interest.

I look forward to meeting and learning from all of you!

Library Student Journal and other Open Access Publishing Endeavors

Much to my delight and surprise, I am now a Proofreader on the Library Student Journal.

For those of you who don't know of it, the LSJ is an Open Access journal that was founded last year by some students at the University of Buffalo. In addition to articles, it also publishes reviews and editorial-- all written by LIS students.

"Open Access" not only means that the content is free to read, because the journal operates with mon… Continue

"Millennial Dilemma" Conference @ Columbia, MO, 20 March 2007

I had a great time at the Millennial Dilemma conference yesterday. I was a bit intimidated, and didn't know what to expect, since I'd never been to a conference before, but I enjoyed myself immensely and learned a great deal, and not just about how to act at a conference.

Our panels were:
