My Page

Is already looking a bit of a mess in the same way myspace sites do. I wish I could drag and drop the modules on the page to tidy things up a bit.

Random

Thought I would add another post onto here. Was at an interesting UK legal blogger conference on Friday, which provided an opportunity to put some faces to names, and to talk to like minded people. I'm going to try and get to a social networking/web 2.0 event this Friday too if possible.

Just re-installed Joost for the 5th time, and we seem to be back working again ... although I am still not convinced it is worth the effort.

That's it - short and sweet, but will try and make m… Continue

why this site is still pissing me off

I said this day one, but why when someone wants to be my friend can I not click on them and go to their 'page' to find out who the fuck they are?, and who knows them etc. I am already reaching the point ning people where I am considering not coming back, and just talking via my blog and IM etc. I know your still beta but .... these days that isn't an excuse for being non user friendly. You seriously have about a month before I am gone, which in web2.0 world these days is a long time. My space /B… Continue

Hi Scott,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

thanks! i like your blog too. the name is *great*.

It took me a bit to get used to negotiating ning as well. the multiple profiles is weird, but it's nice- i'm in another network where i know almost everyone personally, so my profile can be different there.

beats the heck outta myspace :)

Thanks for the tip Scott. I was farting around with it today and that was the first thing that came to mind "Why again am I putting this white lettering on black background?"

thanks for being there to help me out ;)

Hi Connie, nice to see a familiar face. I agree that more time could have been spent by Ning on looking at it froma user experience as opposed to a network creator experience. But, I will stick with it for a while yet.

There are lots of things about Ning I find frustrating. Especially moving between networks...the focus is really from the point of view of the network creators and not the actual network users. Still, when you start looking around at other networks, I can see some really cool things. We can set up book shelves and pretty much anything.

Hi Scott, I found that a bit disconcerting too, being a proud Canadian, I did not want to be identified otherwise. But... I did figure it out :)

Hmm, wasn't very obvious that the Ning profile and the Library 2.0 profile were different things, but thanks for the pointer. I Still think asking you to assign this info at the start is a good idea though -esp if it is something that it will autofil and display otherwise.

You can change your nationality by modifying your ning profile. Now that you have a basic account setup, there's a few more options to play with.

Changed my name back to Chinese one. I've just talked to a colleague from other library and asked how to attract people into the library blog. I don't know how you run it. We have Parra Reads here which I have set it up since April. It took while ...
