Hi Jeff,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.
Thanks for adding me. I joined this network last year but haven;t had much time to be active on it. Facebook takes up what little time I have for social things although this one is more of a professional network. I see you're friends with Israel Yanez. I am too, both here and on FB.
Hope you have a Happy Holidays / Merry Christmas!
Luis

I like reading Meredith Farkas' blog. We used her book as a text in my Web 2.0 course.

I hear you on the state of LIS education today. I'm lucky enough to get mostly excellent instructors who set high standards, but I have had a couple of "cupcake classes" where the instructors sort of just phone it in... the dangers of online/distance ed courses.

I think education and development doesn't end with the library science degree. We need to be innovative to meet our users' changing needs. So we will always need to keep up.
I just finished a "Social Software for Libraries" course. I see your library has a Meebo widget on their website. Good going. (Does it get used much?)

I also try to check out Michael Stephens' Tame the Web and David Lee King on occasion.
You've probably heard of them or are following them already.
The Blogging Libraries Wiki will give you examples of library blogs, by library type.
