Ernie,
I realize this is an old discussion thread, but it pertains very closely to something that I'm trying to find out. You say that you collaborated with a teacher to design this unit for students, and how LMS can work with teachers to help them…
We used and loved Wordle for self expression and as a way to create posters for the Dewey Hundreds. We are just beginning our introduction to wikis. We have a library wiki and we will be learning while the kids create artwork and other content for t…
I am interested in how elem schools are using audiobooks and ipods. I just wrote a grant for 10 ipods (we are an apple school) and a subscription for an audiobook service. What is everyone out there using? How are you signing out ipods to elem schoo…
I've set up a wikispaces account with the fourth graders at one of my schools. They were interested, but found few of them could remember to use it after school. I've shared it with the teachers, their parents, and the principal. I'm hoping it conti…
This year I tried Voicethread and really liked it. Next year, I'm going to try to find a way to use Animoto in one of our projects. Seems like a pretty easy way to make a student video presentation.
I was at the elementary level for 10 years before moving to HS. I just launched http://www.gettingboystoread.com. Please check it out some time, especially if you want to learn about the topic.
Thanks,

I just finished my fifth year as the library media specialist at Ridgecrest Elementary in Shoreline, Washington (just north of Seattle). I taught in the classroom before going to the University of Washington for my MLIS. We have district technology integration specialists but they were primarily in the secondary schools this past year with a one-to-one laptop rollout, so the elementary schools depend upon the librarians for tech support and teaching help. I enjoy that part of my job and am always looking for ideas and support for my teachers and myself while teaching information skills. I am also my school's webmaster.
What is Your Interest in Library 2.0 (not yes or no)
I need to stay ahead of the library/information/technology needs in my district, where all 7-12 students have laptops and next year all 5th and 6th graders will have their own computers.
