I am a Digital Librarian/Web Content Manager at the US Geological Survey in Reston, VA. I finished my MSLIS/CAS in Digital Libraries from Syracuse University last August (2006). I'm interested in new technologies and how they play a role in the library world
Hi Lakegan,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.
Wow - that was fast - I'm still in my bathrobe! (Some advantages to working a four-day, 40-hour shift and being off on Fridays.)
I just posted two nastygrams about Ning's "Library 2.0". What is a "friend" here? You and I at least have something to talk about. We're sharing a vision, even if it's only a pipe dream. I've seen three or so goofballs today who seem to have no connection to anybody or anything LIS-related - and yet, oh-so-good-naturedly, group members are accepting them as "friends". Friends share common interests, not mouse trails.
Howdy, Lakegan - it would be very interesting to get a group of West Coast LIS grads together with grads from the East Coast (Syracuse and San Jose State, for example) to talk about how our philosophies are similar and how they differ.
You're in a very specialized area - a buddy is a map librarian in a local library - so we'd probably want to look at the more public areas. You're the first person I've seen (or remembered) with an East Coast degree. Enjoy!
Thanks for the invite Lakegan. Nice idea to set up a mixer. Saturdays are busy ALA days for me. Thanks for organizing. Must be nice to have an ALA "in the neighborhood." Bit of a jaunt from Cheyenne, WY.
Hey Lakegan
I am more than happy to add you to my friends list. Am looking forward to work on starting a digital library collection for our school site.
