By the way, where are you located? (I'm just curious.)

In California, there's 2 schools that offer an MLIS:
1. UCLA (the University of California, Los Angeles), and
2. San Jose State University (in San Jose, California)

The following links should lead you to your answers concerning the syllabi structure for an MLIS in the USA.

UCLA: http://is.gseis.ucla.edu/

SJSU: http://slisweb.sjsu.edu/

Hopefully these web addresses can either answer your questions or give you contact information if you would like to get in touch with someone at these schools.

Keep in mind that SJSU offers their MLIS completely online -- yes, COMPLETELY online! ;) You don't have to physically attend classes. That's how your friend Raymond is earning his degree! ;)

Good luck, Rajendra!

Good to meet you, Rajendra. I'm currently a MLIS student with San Jose State University (CA) and in the Spring of 2008, I'll be taking a class focusing on these new "Web 2.0" technologies and "social-netoworking" websites such as Ning, Myspace, Facebook, etc. I know, for example, that Facebook is becoming more and more "library-friendly."

As my semester progresses, i'll do my best to share anything I've learned with you and anyone else in this network.

Best wishes,
~Raymond Andrade
