I would very much like to take part in your nickel tour of the library and coffee too. Are there any weekdays that your schedule is especially busy? I will stop in to apl.

Thank you for the name of your previous catalog software. I was asked the name of it in an interview recently and couldn't think of it. I am actually going to be in Appleton from around July 31-Aug.13th. Would you be available for coffee?

Hi Terry,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

I'm sorry that it took me so long to respond to your last comment. I wanted to make sure that I had the numbers correct. The Braden River Library's service area is the largest in Manatee County with a population of 108,350 as of the 2000 census also factoring in the growth in the area.

Have you decided if you are going to build or lease a branch library or renovate the current building?

How fortunate to have a Librarian and Library Assistant specializing in Teen Librarianship. I am the only librarian responsible youth services (0-18) at the Braden River Library.

I particularly agree with your observation that the services that a library provides be prioritized as part of the solution to the scenario.

Part of attending the Florida Library Leadership Institute is completing monthly assignments based on the topic of discussion at the sessions. The assignment due on Jan. 11th involves a situation that I haven't encountered in my career. Here it is:

Practical Application Assignment 2.1 – Defining Leadership
The purpose of this assignment is to understand the importance and benefits of establishing and maintaining relationships.

Workplace Scenario: Your annual operating budget has been reduced by 35%. A reduction in staff and services is not an option.

In writing, please answer the following questions:
1. Within your sphere of influence how will you as the Library Director ensure the continuance of the required level of operations?

Based on your knowledge, would you please share some thoughts on the question we are being posed?
