Blimey! It seems to be the season for parties... We were invited on a Thames Boat Party for my godparents birthdays yesterday, too.

Two parties at once? You really are an astounding chap...

Hi, Andy,

Sorry I haven't been around that much... haven't been posting at my site much either, as it happens!

Elephant Words, the reason for that, is finally finished. Don't know if you've had a chance to look at it (it was very late at night when I texted you the link), but hopefully it's worth a look, and more is added daily!

Hi, Andy... I suspect that you wouldn't think I was SUCH a veteran blogger if you'd seen me struggling with my latest personal project in WordPress, but thanks!

I was actually already at ning, as a member of The Engine network, but I suspect this network will have a very different flavour to it.

Although... actually, that makes me think of something to ask at the forum...

If MySpace were a country....

...it would sit between Japan and Mexico in terms of population - (106 million registered users)
This staggering presentation of statistics and superlatives relating to technology in education is really worth a look and left me with a slightly panicked feeling at the end of the slides!

It comes from Dr J S Euh of Samsung and was delivered at the Handheld Learning Conference 2007 in London. What strikes me as worth exploring is the role that library and information professionals can… Continue

Selling the social web to art librarians - how do *you* do it?

To my mind it sells itself as a tool for library staff to get out there. Anyway in my continuous quest to keep on top of stuff I am looking for examples of current practice that people know work well in their libraries.

Tomorrow (Wednesday) I am delivering a session looking at the social web to a group of Art & Design librarians and would welcome any comments or suggestions that I may be able to add to my presentContinue

What makes an effective participation strategy?

I have been asked to be involved in a consultation event for a teaching support project - Subject Learning Coaches where one of the questions to be addressed is 'Building a learning community - how do we develop a strategy to turn the 90% of lurkers in online forums into occasional or active participants?

Is this realistic to aim for more than 10 active participation? We all know of some forums and communities that work better than oth

Facebook library bullying

At risk of starting to obsess about Facebook, but I read this post yesterday about a case of online bullying close to home - the library at my University. A library staff member has been on the receiving end of bullying from a group of students via Facebook. Pretty distressing for him by all accounts. It has been argued that this sort of intimidation would happen through other means, but social networks, IM etc seem to offer an
