First SSLLI session

The first meeting for the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute was last Friday, and I really loved it! We all got together at the Southshore Regional Library in Ruskin, FL. What a beautiful building! All of the students plus our mentors showed up for the first day. We had to get our picture taken, and post them along with some information about us. They asked us to pick our favorite book - As librarians, that is an almost impossible task!

Tomorrow: Ruskin, FL

Tomorrow is my first ever session of the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute, and I am really excited! I leave tonight and will be at the Southshore Regional Library tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. Our first session will be basic introductory stuff, but we also are going to have a session based on Enneagrams. I don't know if it is the nerd in me, or if everyone adores this form of self-assessment, but I can't wait! It is always interesting to find out more about what makes you tick.

I'm in!

I had a meeting with my director and my supervisor this morning, and I am all clear to attend the Sunshine State Library Leadership Institute! I am so excited to begin, and I have to say I am honored. This is because my library decided to send me despite the financially difficult times ahead. They have faith in me which is a wonderful feeling. The first meeting is in November, and I look forward to meeting everyone there. I remember seeing the group. I hope everything went well; the seats are comfortable in that room but it gets so cold in there.

As for programs we use GoLive and Dreamweaver for editing purposes but as for the code itself, it was mostly complied and written by hand. All of our pages are XHTML and CSS to be more compliant and use Javascript for navigation and a smaller smattering of Ajax.
