What is Your Interest in Library 2.0 (not yes or no)
As the former Community Associate at WJ, I facilitated message board discussions, helped to get BlogJunction up, and started the WJ Flickr account. I produced a 2005 webinar on Making Sense of Social Software in the Library.
Recently, I've been defining technology competencies for library staff who work with public access computers. I have included a section for "staying on top," which addresses L2 technologies. Sustaining Public Access Computing Programs: Technology and Managem... is now available on WebJunction as a downloadable pdf. The publication covers skills and knowledge for patron assistance, system administration, and management of public computers in libraries.

Gaming the book

I missed last year's release of this treatise on Gaming Theory (version 1.1) from Future of the Book and just now stumbled on the 2007 update: version 2.0. There a two energies radiating from this node in cyberspace.

Sharin' the Learning

Just-in-time learning success story hot off the airwaves ...

I ran up against the need to convert a pdf file to a Word document. I wasn't even sure it was possible, especially since I don't have Adobe Acrobat software. I remembered reading about an online file conversion site when I was grazing the fertile fields of Learning 2.1 earlier this week.

It's called… Continue

Where's the 2.0?

I just looked at the five finalist entries in the Thomson Gale Librareo community's "I Love My Library!" video contest. These were chosen from 177 submissions. Despite the clever pop-up book presentation from the Columbus Public Library or the bizarre zombie-spurred information search in Allen County Public Library's offering, all five of these videos broadcast the same stereotype: go to your library for books, newspapers,Continue

Ditching library stereotypes

This video on the Transformation Lab: Prototyping the Future speaks to one of my favorite topics --enriching the physical library with "2.0" experience. (Thanks to Alane at IAG who thanks Darlene Fichter for the link.) As long as we are meat, everything is nContinue

Slow Library resonates!

At the Washington Library Association conference last week, Walt Crawford and Sarah Houghton-Jan shared the breakfast stage for a discussion of "traditional" v. Web-based services and balance. There was more agreement than dis-, which was not surprising. There were a couple of noteworthy moments, imo:

1. When Walt off-handedly mentioned the… Continue
