Two Camps: Libraries in Peril or Not? What do you believe?

John Blyberg shares some of his thoughts as he takes off to ALA in his post A library on the Edge?:

"Like two distinct brands of the same religion, librarians are
drifting into two camps–those that believe libraries are in peril and
those that don’t."

Where do you believe? Does this reflect the experience at your library?

Operation Make Libraries Cool: Libraries in 2010

In May our colleagues from down under held a contest where they asked people to
imagine the library in 2010.
Andrew created this tongue-in-cheek video about possible futures, not all of them grand, and bit of time travel to spice it all up. He finishes off with some solid advice for us all about how to make libraries wonderful in 2010.

Thanks to Everyone Who Added a Pushpin to the frappr Map on Mashups

It was so neat to be able to show this map during the presentation. It started with about 5 photos and a dozen pushpins and by the end there were 40+ photos and several more pushpins.

I love the creative photos that some people have. My favourite is the one of the two toads.

Please Help Create a Mashup

I need a few people to add

Can you please

Hi Darlene - I added our 404 screenshots to the flickr group you created. Thanks for thinking of that - I think that's a great way to share ideas on how libraries can add a little levity and humor to the patron experience. Let me know when your article is published - I'm anxious to read it.

Hi Darlene,
Unfortunately, I do not have horses at the moment - not enough time and money. Good luck with finding a horse for your daughter. Don't rush it - you want to get a healthy, calm horse and this can be a challenge.

Hi Darleen, Your dog is a beauty. My Golden died the beginning of December. Having her photo on Library 2.0 is a good way to remember her. She used to join me at the library every Thursday.
