Hi Peta,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,

Hehe..I was going to ask you whether you realised your location showed as US. From your home page, select edit profile. Then further select "edit Ning profile", which is where the country info is in a drop down box...this option doesn't appear in "edit Library2.0 profile".

Nice photo by the way. About 3 other people I have befriended have photos that look a lot like yours....maybe there's some kind of generic Librarian2.0 look??

Hooray for Me!

I finally buckled down and completed the 23 Things on CSLA's Web 2.0 tutorial. Now I'm conversant if not a convert. I am just old school enough that I see some of these apps as interesting and amazing, but huge time wasters......I love delicious, think Flickr is amazing, love Wordle, get blogging, still don't see the VALUE of Twitter. I will use some of the great links on my school library web page like the The British Library---WOW!

Library Programs

Last night I took in a program at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library about the James Bonds films. It was hosted by Raymond Benson, who has written 9 James Bond books, and Dann Gire, the film critic from the Daily Herald newspaper.

Their commentary was great, filling us in on tidbits we would otherwise not have known. The clips from the films were also great. A refreshing change of pace instead of staying home and watching TV.

What kind of programs does your library offer?
