About Me:
I am 2/3 through my MLIS program at the College of St. Catherine/Dominican University and I work as a reference assistant in a medical library. I am also a brand new, baby blogger! My immediate goals in life are to gain a position as a reference librarian in an academic library and to learn to raise one eyebrow.

What is Your Interest in Library 2.0 (not yes or no)
You betcha!

My library implemented an IM reference service just last week, so I'm excited to see how that goes.

creating new library workshops: Staying Organized in a Web 2.0 World and Extreme Googling

I'm planning on teaching two new classes soon. I'm planning an extreme Googling class for this summer, focusing on some of the other Googles (Scholar, U. S. Government Search, Patent, etc.) and advanced searching. In the fall, a colleague and I would like to do a class on getting organized in a Web 2.0 world, probably including RSS/Web feeds, personalized home pages, social bookmarking, annotation tools, Zotero, etc. I've been poking around on the Web to see what other libraries are doing and, o… Continue

Literary dogs

I'm just a fledgling in this Web 2.0/Library 2.0 world, but I'm taking a class for which I need to create a Web site and our instructor told us to choose a topic about which we are passionate. So, I am going to create a guide to literary dogs. I have lots of ideas of books to include, but I'm curious to ask you all:

what are your favorite books that feature dogs??

I can't wait to find out!

Thanks! Actually, I can raise one eyebrow... it's a vital librarian skill. And my favorite Dog book is "Dudley, the Jack Russell Terrier That Could." My son loves it. Good work on your blog!

We just started using Meebo for IM reference. I am not sure how it will work out, but I think we will be able to sustain the service. Great blog! I had the same dream about my library burning down when I first started as the director. I'll meebo you sometime.
