Usability is really big for me, and especially practical in a public setting in a Web 2.0 world. The library is redesigning its website, which began in 2004 with a study of its current site. The results were telling: people couldn't find half the services we provide. Some minor changes were made over 2005-6 to improve usability, and we are now finally getting to the point of a complete redesign.

We have launched JoCoBusiness at http://www.jocobusiness.net. It features a lot of the new interactivity our redesigns (eight more to go) will have, including RSS feeds, comments, booklist reviews, and forums. We are also pushing content-on-demand. I am working on a library hours and locations widget. It needs a lot of work, but what it does is dynamically update a table containing the hours of a specific branch. It is being pulled from an XML file using JavaScript. Right now, it only works in Firefox and the features are limited, but I see this as a very useful tool. An example is at:
