Hi Bill,
I wanted to add a thought to this conversation. Just because there is not much outward, visible activity does not make a network "dead." I am here frequently, but not necessarily with anything to say. I suspect many librarians enjoy read...

About Me:
To catch everyone up, I have graduated from the University of Wisconsin with an MLS. I am both happy and a little uneasy. I am looking for a professional position, which will mean stepping out of a 14 year comfort zone!

Hi Linda, Glad to hear you are still navigating through school! I was offered a position as the Government Documents/Serials/Reference Librarian at Lee College in Baytown, Texas (Houston area) so will begin July 21. It's exciting! Keep me up to date with how you're doing.
Linda, great to hear from you again! Thank you for the comments on the Web site. I finally graduated and am looking for a job...how about you? What's happening? Julie
Hi Linda, I got finished creating the Gov Docs Web pages for USF. Thought you might be interested...they are still a work in progress...there is so much information! Julie

Hi Linda, would you like to participate in the Library 2.0 Member survey I created for my Research Methods class?! It's not very long, and is mostly demographic and interest information. If you do, I would appreciate any comments you have about how I could improve it. Thanks, Julie Click Here to take survey
Hi Linda! Thanks for the comments! I'm working full time too, so i know what you mean when it will take you another two years. Since I'm taking a class now, and have Collection Development and comps in the Fall, I can't believe I'm that close to graduating. After all the papers and projects, I feel ready for it be be over. I worked in technical processing for several years so have a background in checking in all the formats in gov docs. Since we changed from NOTIS to ALEPH, I haven't been that involved in it except for the maps. However, I have done poster displays and now I'm working on the content for the Website. I'm learning so much by doing it. I even have a site for the 2008 Presidential election. I want to incorporate more Web 2.0 applications and am finding the Free Government site: http://freegovinfo.info/ to be invaluable. I joined Library 2.0 because I want to become as adept as possible in knowing what's happening with open source software. There are so many options!
Anyway, it's nice to meet another MLIS student who is interested in Gov Docs. Oh, by the way, my aunt lives in Dodgeville, WI (near Madison), and my cousin works at the University of Wisconsin! Are you involved in distance education since you live in Iowa? I am impressed after looking at your comments about everything you are doing at Scott Community College Library!
Memo and Rossana: Thank you for the wishes and communications! I am looking forward to completing my MLS and being a full fledged librarian. I really love this profession and my job! Thanks again!
In this blog post, I describe 3 different ways to zoom in and out of presentations to increase visibility, and to create a bit of action. The three tools are Zoomit, Prezi and pptPlex. I describe my experiences with them in detail and their pros a...
