Name of Your Library:
Bierce Library, University of Akron
About Me:
While my obsession is government information in all of its many incarnations, I'm also interested in outstanding design (virtual and otherwise), open access initiatives, open source software, book repair, and awesome things.

Before I came to UA, I worked as a graduate assistant for the reference desk in the humanities library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also worked in the documents section, where I, as I like to think of it, wrangled federal documents. Previously, I have worked as a circulation assistant at Rice University, which is also where I did my undergrad, and as a volunteer in the Texas Room at Houston Public Library.

I'm originally from southeastern Pennsylvania, and in seventh grade I wrote a poem about loving libraries.

  • I'm particularly interested in the i

I'm trying to get better at approaching people I don't know, but I'm always relieved when someone else does the hard work for me.

My plan is to get a feel for what conferences are like so I can make plans for future professional involvement. I also want to cram in at least a little museum time. Unfor… Continue

Hi Shari, Thanks for your comments. I'm going crazy with the Research Methods class right now! Would you like to take my survey for Library 2.0 members? Please give me any advice you have on how to improve it. invite you to participate in a survey I just completed for my Research Methods class. It is just very basic demographic and interest kind of questions. Thanks! Here is the link:

Hi! Yay for Gulf Coasters! ;-) I'm originally from RI but I also love it down here in Louisiana. Can't beat those warm winters! I hope I run into you at ALA Annual. I'm having fun here in D.C. so far.
