What is Your Interest in Library 2.0 (not yes or no)
I love social networking, but I think the most important part of Library 2.0 is to enable patrons to DO STUFF with their data. Library portals are a start, but only a very feeble one. In an electronic environment, library users need to be able save, manipulate, and share their links to information. Thus far, libraries have done a terrible job of facilitating this kind of functionality.

Facebook Applications

I'm going hog-freaking wild with the applications on Facebook! We need some more library applications on there, but not just OPACs.

Tagging Phrases

I love tagging and I love bookmarking. Together they are a great and easy way to classify digital objects, but I rarely take part in social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us. Its not that I don't appreciate the social element; social tagging really adds value to the mass of data out there on the web. But there's one thing I can't get past: THE SINGLE-WORD TAG!

I'll never be a devoted del.icio.us user because I can't think that open source should be expressed as opensource or open_sour… Continue

Hi Steve,

Edinburgh is actually quite well endowed with libraries of all sorts. There are 4 universities and various colleges, law firms, governmental bodies, not to mention the public libraries. http://www.lisjobnet.com/Lisjobnet while not everything, shows current vacancies in the UK.

Glad you like Edinburgh!!!

I finally buckled down and completed the 23 Things on CSLA's Web 2.0 tutorial. Now I'm conversant if not a convert. I am just old school enough that I see some of these apps as interesting and amazing, but huge time wasters......I love delicious, ...
