Profile Information

Name of Your Library:
Off-Campus Library Services, Central Michigan University, Atlanta Metro center
About Me:
I've been an academic librarian since the late 90's, starting at the University of Texas at Austin. I moved to Chicago where I was the Business Librarian for Loyola University Chicago. A few years later I took a position at the Nestle Library at Cornell University.

Four and a half years later, I left the tundra of Upstate New York for HOTlanta, where I am an off-campus librarian for Central Michigan University. I love it.

What is Your Interest in Library 2.0 (not yes or no)
We're always looking for new ways to reach our students: off-campus adult learners located throughout the US, including Hawaii and Canada.

Hi Thad,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.

Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

Thad, would you like to participate in the Library 2.0 Member survey I created for my Research Methods class?! It's not very long, and is mostly demographic and interest information. If you do, I would appreciate any comments you have about how I could improve it. Thanks, Julie

I'm glad you found out it was broken! The URL is http://www.galileo.usg.edu, and you can always use the Contact Us form on the GALILEO homepage if you ever have questions or technical problems. ...I'm sorry! I'm sure you know all that, but it's a habit now to give people information - just in case! I'm glad you've joined the Georgia Librarians group!

Hi Thad, thanks for your comment. I know what you mean about the warm neighborhood feeling of Chicago. Even though I left when I was five, I can tell from my mother's stories of when she was growing up there that it was a very rich experience. She still talks about the neighborhoods, the culture and her family. I missed all that!

Thanks for your response. You have a really interesting career...through Texas, Chicago, New York and Atlanta! Wow...it's interesting. How did you like Chicago? I'm asking only because I have a history there...my German and Dutch relatives migrated there in the 1850's and were involved in
creating an ironworks factory which designed some of the major ironworks decorations of major historical buildings. Anyway, you have lot of experience in lots of places.

Hi Thad, Thanks for the comments...I interviewed for the library director position at Mesa about 3 or 4 years ago. So I visited GJ. Interesting place. Larry Greenwood
