I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - http://GettingBoysToRead.com. Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.
Sincerely,
Mike McQueen

I can definitely relate to your situation. Here's how it goes at the library where I work: I have a very supportive supervisor, and usually either she or I will see some new techno-gadget and decide whether it merits a closer inspection. If it does, she'll say, "See what you can do with it then check back with me." Basically, that's how the blog, wiki, IM reference, Picasa, del.icio.us, etc. accounts started. I love all these new Library 2.0 gadgets, but I don't believe in technology for technology's sake. I truly believe that these gadgets provide not only alternative ways to communicate with our patrons, but news ways in which patrons can learn about Mabee Library's resources and services, and that's what I'm trying to convince my colleagues. It's been an uphill endeavor, but I'll continue to talk with my colleagues, offer training sessions, interact with faculty and administrators, or do whatever else it takes to ensure that these services are available to our patrons.
Thanks for the invitation. And thanks for joining the Creative Librarians group!
