- Arizona State Library Overview of Collection Development Provides practical training in how to perform collection development activities in public libraries
- Bibliographical Center for Research: Free Friday Forums pertaining to OCLC, Internet, Web design, cataloging and ILL topics
- Idaho State Library - Alternative Basic Library Education (ABLE): Online tutorials on basic library skills
- Idaho State Library - Supplemental Alternative Basic Library Educat...: Online tutorials on topics that are supplemental to basic library skills
- Grand Valley State University's Library Skills Tutorial Excellently organized, thoroughly comprehensive presentation of important library concepts, beginning at the most elementary level. The repeated message to "ask a reference librarian" is especially valuable, as is the detailed coverage of periodical resources and database searching.
- Lake Sumter Community College (FL) Internet Essentials Tutorial. A basic self-paced, text-based tutorial on internet skills
- Library of Congress Professional Development Self-serve Workshops: Online modules on a variety of topics including search skills, primary sources, basic technology
- Library of Congress Webcasts: Webcasts on topics of interest to librarians and archivists
- LibraryU: Courses for library staff and patrons created by the Illinois Library Systems and the Illinois State Library. Highly recommended.
- LISRadio: free interactive Webcasts from the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri-Columbia
- National Library of Medicine Distance Education Program Resources: Short tutorials on various medical library resources such as PubMed and MedlinePLUS
- Ohio Library Council's "Marketing the Library" Web-based staff training for public library marketing. Six self-paced modules, with examples, exercises, quizzes, and links to web marketing resources.
- Ohio Library Council's ORE Program" Web-based staff training for public library reference services. Six self-paced modules, with examples, exercises, quizzes, and links to web marketing resources.
- Ohio Library Council: Self-paced online modules cover topics such as new staff orientation for public libraries, basic reference and library marketing
- OPAL: an international collaborative effort by libraries of all types to provide web-based programs and training for library users and library staff members; administered by the Alliance Library System, the mid-Illinois Talking Book Center and the Illinois State Library Talking Book and Braille Service
- SirsiDynix Institute: Live online seminars by library industry leaders on timely topics; also features free archive of past seminars
- State Library of Ohio - eLearning Center: although these free online modules are geared toward Ohio library staff, they may prove useful to non-Ohioans
- Texas State's Small Library Management Program Courses in Proffessionalism and Librarianship.
- The Center for Intellectual Property at the University of Maryland .... The Primer is a interactive online tool to assist educating faculty, staff and students about copyright principles and compliance.
- USC Beaufort Library's Bare Bones to the Internet. One of the first, free web-based courses produced by and for library staff. Highly recommended.
- University of South Florida's Librarians Serving Genealogists. This free tutorial is maintained by a USF LIS instructor.
- WebJunction's Online Learning Opportunities: free (and fee-based) courses from the WebJunction community and other library organizations, includes link to the newly created E-learning Clearinghouse
- Utah State Library's Cataloging Basics Comprehensive tutorials or links to tutorials covering cataloging.
