Marlene and Nathan Addlestone Library, College of Charleston
About Me:
I am a long time library practitioner who loves books and information of all sorts. I'm interested in information literacy and Google/Search Engines as a second language skill for augmenting traditional research. Library services especially customer service is an area of interest and especially how we personalize our information exchanges and make each customer feel special.
Personal intersts include Yoga, Eastern Religions, wild flowers, day hiking, vegetarianism, and meditation.
Sheila, thanks friending me. I'm not a librarian but a wannabe. My interest has been rooted first in search and discover on the Web, then through higher education and now at the intersection of libraries and the Internet at OCLC. Your question about adding real value is a good one? What can SN's do for library patrons? Extend discover beyond the search results list!
Has anyone thought about creating a "ning" for your library community and about the possibility of combining it with services so the library is this place to make friends and get info. at the same time?
Hi Sheila, thanks for being my friend! I guess it depends on how you define shy... maybe like so many other terms, "shy" will take on new meanings in this "conversation age."
Thank you for adding me as one of your friends. I see here that you like yoga and meditation. Do you practice it?
And you're a librarian! I like your approach towards books and your thinking on how you an enhance your skills on information literacy.
Would love to hear more from you.
Everyone has so many differnt personas. Thanks for all the cool images. How are we going to reinvent a "social networking" 2.0 in the libarry environment. What do you think students really need/want? What can we offer to add real value?
