Group Project

For my capstone Digital Libraries class, a group of five of us created a digital library from the ground up using all Open Source Software. There were four groups total in the class. Our project was a fictitious Political Science University Library called, The University of American Politics. We created everything on the site as well as populated each of the applications we used. Hopefully this will remain up through 2008. See the final project here.

Internship update

I started my first internship here at Syracuse University's Bird Library on campus September 2007. My title is Information Literacy Intern in the Instructional Services Department. I am teaching library and research instruction primarily to freshmen. It has been very exciting so far. I am extremely interested in pursuing instruction as a career. I have a background in corporate training and the urge to teach/instruct has stayed with me over the years.

Planning my internship

I am a full-time library student at Syracuse University. I will be graduating Spring 2008 from SU's MSLIS program with a Master's Degree as well as a Certificate in Digital Libraries.

I am a mid-life returning student beginning to plan my internships (non-paid, but course credit) for this coming year, my last at SU. I am open to internship possibilities locally or outside this area. As of this summer, if things

Adding friends

This is the first social networking tool I've used where I've added friends without really knowing who the people are. This is an experiment. I want to see where this social networking tool takes me. So I'm putting myself out there in this medium.

Hey there. Yes, I'm in the middle of my first semester and at times I get a bit discouraged thinking graduation (target date Spring 2010) is a way off. But I work full time and can only handle two classes a semester (including summer sessions).

But I'm doing well so far and am enjoying the work. It's already made my job more interesting and relevant, so that in itself is a good thing.

See you on Facebook! ;)

Hi Philip, would you like to participate in the Library 2.0 Member survey I created for my Research Methods class?! It's not very long, and is mostly demographic and interest information. If you do, I would appreciate any comments you have about how I could improve it. Thanks, Julie
