Prison Libraries

There is an expression by Jesse Jackson I believe, "Yale is cheaper than Jail".

If there is one book I would recommend everyone read to get an overview of what is happening in the U.S. prison system it is The American Prison System edited by Peter G. Herman. H.W. Wilson 2001. The U.S. has more people per capita in prison than any country in the world. That is 2 million people, about a 500% rise since 1980's.

I am so thankful ALA has written standards for prison…

Hi Judith,
I'm a teacher librarian & recently started a community based blog for getting boys to read - Please send me a friend request if you'd like to network, share ideas, and learn more about getting boys to read.
